This is the kind of book I'd expect to find in a subject area called Australian Painting, arts publishing which looks to validate a list (of sorts) on a topic12. This one is published by a now closed publishing house called Craftsman House3. They semed to have been quite a major arts publisher in Australia from the 80s through the 90s and even early 21st C. The book's design is (funny) very 80s with geometric ornaments amongst the typsetting. The organisaton of the books contents is different to the more recent 759.994CRE. It's worth noting that they seperate Aboriginal painting from all other painting in the contents list and if this was the main discourse or categorisation in Australian Art it makes Gordon Bennett's desire to not be labelled/only given value as an Aboriginal artist all the more interesting.
