A strange piece of emphemera, high production values well in that die cutting can be expensive, but also a pretty flimsy little publication for a huge historic house1. I looked up Harewood Terrace and it is independently run as a charity (it's not part of a larger conservation org like National Trust, Royal Palaces, English Heritage etc). The house has run an art gallery onsite since 1986 and the family who own the property become part of the aristocracy in 1795 on the back of their fortune made trading enslaved people and on sugar plantations in the Carribean2. I wonder how the artists in this exhibition felt about their work touring to this place, how much did they know about the history of the house and their exhibition and did they have a chance to visit?

Scan of the first painting the book.

Pamphlet, with burgundy coloured card cover with 3 shaped cutouts a square, a circle and a triangle. A custom die cut, which has proved an interesting challenge for library staff trying to preserve the book with a plastic cover (see below).
Pages printed full colour on silk coated stock.
